When the Healing Begins turns toward family, place, distance, and the experiences that shape identity over time.

Drawing from lived environments in New York and Miami, as well as imagery connected to her Colombian Roots, Garces reconstructs personal history through architecture, Renaissance figures, symbolic objects, and fragmented space.

The works consider how ideas of home, belonging, and family can become divided, inherited or redefined. Rather than presenting healing as a finished state, the series approaches it as an ongoing process of looking back, making connections, and understanding what continues to be carried forward.

Revelations explores identity, spirituality, contradiction, and the layered ways people come to understand themselves and their lives.

Through mixed-media collage, Garces fragments and reconstructs figures, landscapes, and historical imagery to create scenes that move between the psychological and the surreal. The work reflects moments of realization and change, where multiple versions of the self and different realities can exist at once.

By cutting and rebuilding images, Garces reflects how identity and life can feel layered, shifting, and unresolved.
